HOW CAN I FIND SKYJUMP/SKYWALK HQ?
Look for the tallest building in central Auckland (the one that looks like a needle!) and bound enthusiastically towards it!
The physical address for the Sky Tower is the corner of Federal and Victoria Streets, Auckland.
Once you reach the Sky Tower, our bat cave is located downstairs, underground in the base of the Sky Tower, so take the escalators DOWN, turn right when you get to the bottom of the escalators, follow the signs for SkyJump/SkyWalk and check in at Mission Control (otherwise known as reception).
WHAT ARE YOUR OPERATING DAYS/TIMES AND WHATS THE DEAL WITH WEATHER?
SKYJUMP HOURS AND WEATHER RESTRICTIONS
SkyJump is open from 10.00am to 5.15pm.
If it’s blowing a gale out there (over 70km/hr) or other extreme weather, then SkyJump does not operate. Fortunately this doesn’t happen often and a little wind is great for those wanting to add a little more thrill to the experience.
SKYWALK HOURS AND WEATHER RESTRICTIONS
SkyWalk is open 10.00am to 4.30pm.
SkyWalk adventures depart througout the day, with a maximum of six SkyWalkers each trip.
SkyWalk is exposed at the top of the Sky Tower, so we have very strict cut-off limits for wind. We also have a minimum weight restriction of 45kgs in winds over 40 km/h.

FAQs about SkyJump
HOW SAFE IS SKYJUMP? IS IT SCARY?
Feeling a little nervous are we?
Well safety is one thing you don’t have to worry about! SkyJump is OSH approved and very rigorous safety standards are upheld. Our Jump Masters undergo intensive training and always operate in teams, checking each other’s work as they go. SkyJump is an adventure activity with a very low real risk but very high perceived risk, so as the saying goes – it’s mind over matter!
Is it scary? … Um we’re going to say yes! You are, after all, jumping off a perfectly good tower to fall 192 metres towards the ground, so yes, it is scary but that’s the point really isn’t it?
ARE THERE ANY LIMITATIONS OR RESTRICTIONS ON WHO CAN SKYJUMP?
- The maximum weight limit for SkyJump is 122kgs.
- The minimum weight limit for the SkyWalk is 30kgs. However, in strong winds this is increased to 45kgs.
- The minimum age for SkyJump is 10.
- We have no maximum age – in fact our oldest jumper to date is a 100 year old woman!
- People with heart problems should consult their physician.
- We apologise, but pregnant women are unable to SkyJump for the health and safety of you, and your unborn child.
There is no set minimum weight for SkyJump but all Jumpers must fit our harnesses and this will depend on body shape and height. Final decision will be made by our crew.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
It’s not the red carpet so you can leave your number ones at home. Nappies are also optional!
All you need is comfortable clothing and lace up shoes. We’ll kit you up in the extremely saucy SkyJump flying suit and full body harness. As much as you’ll look like a superhero you won’t have any superhuman strength/spidey toes to hold on loose-fitting footwear and we don’t want to see your jandals flying over Auckland city or hitting innocent pedestrians, so if you do happen to forget your lace up shoes we have some spare shoes you can borrow.
IS THERE A SECURE PLACE TO PUT MY PERSONAL ITEMS WHILE I JUMP?
There sure is. Each jumper will have their own personal locker in which we get you to dump everything out of your pockets, including coins and any loose items (yes this includes cameras, jewellery and the occasional tissue). No need to bring the will, you can leave that one in your safe deposit box…
HOW IS SKYJUMP DIFFERENT TO A BUNGY JUMP?
Well, we are glad you asked, because it’s very different! Both activities require you to jump off something high, but the similarities end there. With SkyJump, you stay in a super hero style flying position, so there is no hanging around upside down or bouncing around. You simply fall fast and smooth, and land on your feet at the bottom, on the perfectly placed target.
HOW MUCH TIME DO I NEED AND WHERE CAN MY SUPPORT CREW WATCH FROM?
From check-in at Mission Control to waving goodbye to our crew with an adrenaline fuelled grin from ear to ear, the SkyJump experience takes around 30-45 minutes. Those that encounter nerves on the ledge 192 metres above Auckland may take a little longer!
Your friends and family are more than welcome to come along to watch you as you complete your SkyJump. We’ll take them out to the landing platform for no charge, where they can watch you glide down and land gracefully (or not so gracefully) on your feet. A live video feed of the view up the top will keep them informed of your progress.
CAN I GET PROOF OF MY STUPENDOUS BRAVERY?
We have a photo and video USB package available for purchase after your jump.
Our SkyJump Masters will attach a GoPro camera to your wrist before heading out on the SkyJump platform. This records your jump from start to finish.
It’s really up to you whether you wish to record the look on your face as you throw yourself off a perfectly good tower, the stunning views of Auckland, or whether you choose just to forget about it and fling your arms out in sheer joy to get a mixture of the two. The video also has sound so maybe keep that in mind if you want children to relive the SkyJump with you!
The photos consist of a shot on the platform of you with your best super fake confident grin, and one photo of you mid-air at the beginning of your jump.
The price for the USB package is $65 (all digital photos and movie file on the USB plus the two printed photos). If you just wish to purchase the two printed photos this will cost $30.
CAN I TAKE MY OWN GO PRO?
We have modified the equipment to make it safe for the SkyJump activity, and for this reason you are unable to use your own camera equipment.
WHAT IF ONCE ISN’T ENOUGH?
Once is never enough!
If you bring back your certificate for the SkyJump then you can relive the adrenaline rush for only 75 bucks … and by that we mean $75 NZ dollars not 75 male antlered animals!
Or you can always purchase the USB package with the GoPro footage of your SkyJump and relive it again and again in the comfort of your own home.
CAN YOU GIVE ME THE PHONE NUMBER OF THE JUMP MASTER?
Umm…we’re going to go with no on this one! But check out the staff profiles on our Facebook page!!
FAQs about SkyWalk
HOW SAFE IS SKYWALK?
Auckland’s SkyWalk has been independently approved by a certified engineer and very rigorous safety standards are upheld. SkyWalk is an Auckland adventure activity with a very low real risk but very high perceived risk.
Each SkyWalker has two safety tethers from their harness, up to the overhead rail. One safely tether is a climbing rope designed as a failsafe. The other tether is a seatbelt-type retraction system that allows the tether to be adjusted to your individual height. This means that if you do step off the walkway you simply swing back like a pendulum.
COULD I DROP SOMETHING OVER THE SIDE ACCIDENTLY?
No chance! During your SkyWalk experience, you wear a coverall type suit that prevents objects from being released. We also check you for objects like coins etc during the gear-up process to ensure you don’t carry any loose items. For this reason, you are unable to take your own camera during your SkyWalk.
ARE THERE ANY LIMITATIONS OR RESTRICTIONS ON WHO CAN SKYWALK?
- The maximum weight limit for SkyWalk is 127kgs.
- The minimum age for SkyWalk is 10. In fact, SkyWalk is an awesome educational tour and Auckland activity for school groups! (Please note: written parental consent is required for all people aged 10-14 years.)
- We have no maximum age. The only physical requirement for SkyWalk is the ability to reliably walk around the walkway, although please see our notes on provisions for people with physical restrictions below.
- People with heart problems should consult their physician.
- We apologise, but pregnant women are unable to SkyWalk for the health and safety of you, and your unborn child.
- Need some Dutch courage before you SkyWalk? No problem! But just keep it to one glass as we are required to breathalyse people before they SkyWalk and you must be under 400 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath.
SkyWalk has created a way for people with some physical limitations to participate in a SkyWalk by using a Hand Gliding harness, where you can simply harness in and glide around. Not everyone is able to do this. Contact us and we will be able to help you assess if it is right for you. You can also check out our page for people with disabilities here.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
You don’t have to bring anything with you as we provide all equipment. But we do need you to wear lace up shoes. We don’t want to see your jandals flying over the city or hitting innocent pedestrians! If you don’t have lace up shoes we have some very tasty ones you can borrow for the walk.
I’VE ALREADY DONE THE SKYJUMP – IS THE SKYWALK JUST AS SCARY?
Yes! In fact loads of people say that SkyWalk is even scarier than SkyJump, so you’ll just have to try them both and find out for yourself!
When you SkyWalk you’re on the edge a lot longer and having to walk on your jelly legs, but at least you don’t have to jump!. For those not in the know, the SkyWalk is a spectacular stroll along a 1.2 metre wide walkway around Auckland’s famous Sky Tower – sounds easy right? Well no, not so much! It’s a very thin walkway 192 metres above Auckland with no handrails and nothing but air on either side of you! Eeek! It’s totally safe though, even if it is terrifying. A harness and overhead railing prevent SkyWalkers from swinging off the edge. Once you get used to the chasm below, you enjoy spectacular views of Auckland, as your guide points out the city’s famous landmarks.
HOW MUCH TIME DO I NEED?
From check in at Mission Control, to waving our team goodbye with a huge smile on your dial, the SkyWalk experience takes around 75 minutes. It’s the perfect Auckland adventure activity for those on a tight schedule!
HOW DO I GET PROOF THAT I’M A SKYWALKER?
We have a photo and video USB package available for purchase after your SkyWalk. This includes two photos of you being brave on the ring, plus a video with sound, taken by your SkyWalk guide, so you can show off your moves to all your friends and family. The price for the USB package is $65 (including all digital photos and movie file on the USB, plus your two printed photos). If you just wish to purchase the two printed photos, we have this available for $30.
ARE THERE ANY OTHER SIMILAR OPERATIONS AROUND THE WORLD?
SkyWalk Auckland is very different to BridgeClimb and SkyWalk in Sydney – they have handrails and so you do not have anything like the same feeling of exposure that SkyWalk Auckland gives you! In other words Auckland SkyWalkers are the real deal! It is similar to SkyWalk in Macau though, and the CN Tower in Toronto also has a new activity called EdgeWalk.
